TSMC expects to see a revenue decline of up to 10% this year as its business is still heavily dependent on the smartphone and PC segment, which has been struggling since the beginning of the year, while revenue growth from artificial intelligence components has so far cannot fully compensate for this deterioration. According to Bloombergin September of this year, TSMC revenue was about $6.5 billion, and this, taking into account the statistics of the previous two months, suggests that quarterly revenue amounted to $17 billion.

This is 11% less than revenue from the same period last year, but quite within the general trend mentioned above. The good news is that TSMC’s preliminary quarterly revenue exceeds the analysts’ forecast ($16.5 billion). This probably suggests that demand for computing accelerators is more actively influencing TSMC’s revenue dynamics, and the smartphone and PC segment is recovering faster than expected.
