TSJ fined universities for suing Onapre

The Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) imposed a fine once morest several universities and rectors for the joint lawsuit they filed once morest the National Budget Office (Onapre).

The sanctioned study houses are the Universidad de Los Andes (ULA) and the Universidad Pedagogica Experimental Libertador (UPEL), as well as the rectors Cecilia Garcia Arocha, from the Central University of Venezuela (UCV); Jessy Divo, from the University of Carabobo (UC); Milena Bravo, from the University of the East (UDO); and Rita Elena Añez, from the Antonio José de Sucre National Experimental Polytechnic University (UNEXPO).

Along with this measure, the agency rejected two other appeals for annulment once morest Onapre.

TSJ declares inadmissible request for nullity of the Onapre instructions

The Political-Administrative Chamber published two sentences this Saturday, with presentations by Judge Malaquías Gil Rodríguez. In these, the two demands presented by the Venezuelan universities in July were declared inadmissible.

The ruling imposes a fine “on each of the plaintiffs and their representatives in this matter, for fifty (50) times the official exchange rate of the currency with the highest value, established by the Central Bank of Venezuela.”

With this action, the TSJ rejected three demands. The first presented by the retired workers of the Public Ministry, who threatened to open a criminal investigation and imposed a fine on them for “the abusive exercise of a judicial action.” The second, the two presented by the study houses that were fined.
