“Tschugger”, the series written and directed by Haut-Valaisan David Constantin, has been a hit for two seasons in German-speaking Switzerland with its offbeat humor, its retro settings and its dialogues in Haut-Valais dialect. On this side of the Sarine, it is much less known, but that should change with the commitment of Vincent Kucholl and Vincent Veillon for the third season, the five episodes of which are broadcast on Monday December 11 from 9 p.m. on RTS 2.
“We play police officers. We are a bit like a single character, like Dupond and Dupont, except that one speaks and the other does not (editor’s note: Vincent Kucholl),” say the actors. Vincent Veillon did not need to learn Upper Valais for his role. “In this season’s scenario, the Romands have taken power in the police station and that’s why we’re showing up,” he explains, while his sidekick adds: “I don’t speak , but my silence is in French.” If the two Vincents accepted David Constantin’s proposal, it is because they loved the first two seasons and they were touched by the way in which the director “highlights and makes the periphery and the regions sexy “. “There is something in the state of mind, the humor and the approach which is quite close to what we do at RTS. We have fun with the clichés, we exaggerate them,” confides Kucholl.
The music, editing, aesthetics and offbeatness of “Tschugger” also appealed to the two actors, who celebrated their 10th anniversary in 2021. “When I came across the series, it’s terrible to say , but the first thing I thought was: ‘Is that Swiss? But no, it’s not possible’,” admits Vincent Veillon.
