The case of Madhu, a tribal youth killed in a mob attack in Attappadi, will be heard once more by the Mannarkkad special court on the 25th. The case was heard on Friday for the first time since the government appointed special prosecutors. The new prosecutors were appointed following the government was informed that the previously appointed special prosecutor might not attend due to illness. On the instructions of Madhu’s family, the High Court appointed Senior Advocate C Rajendran as Special Prosecutor and Palakkad Advocate Rajesh M Menon as Additional Special Prosecutor. The two appeared in court on Friday.
The prosecution had asked for two weeks to find out more regarding the case, but the court said it was shifting the case to 25 as it had to report to the high court every week. Defendant’s attorneys told the court that they had to visit the scene and that some of the documents obtained were obscure and some digital evidence might not be opened.
After examining all these, Judge KS Madhu shifted the case. Special Public Prosecutor C Rajendran said the trial might begin only if the respondent receives the document. Madhu’s mother Malli and sister Sarasu, who appeared in court, said they were happy with the government’s appointment of new prosecutors and had full faith in the government that our Madhu would get justice. Malli and Sarasu said the CBI would decide on the probe as the case progressed.
