Drivers who use trunk 10 denounced the deterioration of the road, specifically at the entrance to El Dorado, Dalla Costa parish of the Sifontes municipality.
Miguel Ángel Pujol, who works as line president, spoke to scoop that the most critical sections are from El Dorado – kilometer 0 and from kilometer 0 – kilometer 88, “that road is the one that is almost impassable”.
A driver, who preferred to protect his identity, indicated that the section is open for the circulation of vehicles, “but that passage is ugly. In the neighborhood of El Dorado, kilometer 52 leaving Tumeremo and before reaching the Casa Blanca checkpoint.
He kept repeating that people who travel through that area -and who don’t know it very well- should take the necessary precautions: travel during the day, be careful and don’t forget to have spare rubber and tools.
This important road artery connects the municipalities in the south of Bolívar state (Piar, Roscio, El Callao, Sifontes and Gran Sabana), with Brazil.
This is not the first time that drivers denounce the poor state of the road. In March of this year, the road remained closed for more than 80 hours as a result of the collapse due to the rains.

On the Upata – Guasipati road, specifically in the Santa María community, there are large holes and lifting of the pavement. Through social networks, inhabitants have denounced the need for urgent corrections. They also assured that the permanent passage of loaded trucks with overweight is one of the reasons that influence the deterioration of the road.
A few days ago, the mayor of the municipality, Wuihelm Torrellas, declared in an interview with scoop that with the rainy season they have not stopped the operational part of cleaning the municipality and trunk 10.
“Ditch and drainage cleaning is being carried out, we currently have personnel working on the expansion of trunk 10 roads, specifically in the route between the town of El Cintillo and Santa Rosa, we are expanding more than ten kilometers of roads, also with the expansion of the bridges”, he asserted.
In El Callao, the route to the Tomi, Belén I and Belén II mining developments is one of the most chaotic, due to the multitude of holes, which in some are not distinguished by distance.
From the Gran Sabana municipality, sources from the mayor’s office indicated that they carried out adaptation work on trunk 10 in front of Escamoto, where it was already impassable, being important for the transport of merchandise entering the country. “Here they are doing recovery work on the internal roads and trunk 10 that connects with the border,” they highlighted.
It should be noted that for the month of April, repairs began at kilometer 4, from El Dorado to Santa Elena de Uairén, where it was projected that 620 kilometers of the trunk line would be repaired.

The governor of Bolívar state, Ángel Marcano, indicated in his radio program that the first stage of paving was already active, covering trunk line 10 that would go from Puerto Ordaz to Santa Elena de Uairén.
