“I’ve never had direct or indirect communication with Trump”
U.S. court dismisses Trump lawsuit over Twitter account suspension
(LOS ANGELES = Yonhap News) Correspondent Yoon-seop Jeong = Tesla CEO Elon Musk refuted the claim that former US President Donald Trump took over Twitter as groundless.
According to CNBC broadcast on the 6th (local time), Devin Nunes, CEO of the Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG), argued that Musk’s takeover of Twitter was driven by former President Trump’s intentions.
Nunes appeared on Fox News, calling Twitter and other social media platforms to shut down Trump’s account as “tech tyrants.”
“Ex-President Trump wants Americans to get their voice back,” he said.
TMTG is the parent company of True Social, a social media (SNS) created by former President Trump, and Trump is the chairman of the company.
Musk responded to a New York Post Twitter article citing Nunes’ remarks, saying, “This is not true,” and “I have never communicated directly or indirectly with Trump.”
He also emphasized that former President Trump said in a recent interview that he would only use True Social even if his Twitter account was restored following Musk’s takeover of Twitter.
Musk’s public response to Trump’s claims appears to be because he was conscious of the debate on freedom of expression following the Twitter takeover and criticism from the Democratic Party of America.
Democrats are raising the bar that Musk’s takeover of Twitter will allow Trump’s account restoration and extreme claims to be allowed if he removes content restrictions.
Meanwhile, a San Francisco court dismissed former President Trump’s lawsuit alleging that his Twitter account was infringed upon by the suspension of his Twitter account.
“While Twitter alleges that it censored the Trump account in violation of the First Amendment, this provision does not apply to the actions of the private company Twitter,” the court said.
