TWO months before the US General Election, presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are preparing for their first debate and campaigning on economic issues.
ABC News will air their second debate on September 10, 2024.
Donald Trump delivered a dark speech at a rally Saturday (7/9) in the US state of Wisconsin, while Democrat Kamala Harris gathered in Pennsylvania, preparing for the televised presidential debate.
Trump and Harris are essentially tied in the polls. But Republicans are once again ignoring a mountain of scandals that would have sunk their candidates in the past.
At a rally in Mosinee, Wisconsin, former President Trump delivered a speech filled with insults, exaggerations and lies, painting a picture of an apocalyptic America run by a left-wing dictatorship.
Under President Joe Biden and Vice President Harris, their administration has imported murderers, child predators and serial rapists from around the world, while weaponizing law enforcement to imprison political opponents, Trump told a crowd of thousands of his supporters.

He has railed against a series of criminal cases against him, ranging from efforts to overturn his 2020 election loss to Biden to dozens of felony convictions in New York.
Trump also dismissed government revelations of a large-scale Russian influence campaign to distort the 2024 election.
Then on the Truth Social platform, he again falsely claimed that his 2020 loss to Biden involved Democratic fraud and warned that if he won he would ensure a long prison sentence so that this miscarriage of justice would not happen again.

Meanwhile, Harris, taking a break from days of debate preparation in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, visited a spice shop and noticed a stark contrast to Trump’s foul tone.
When asked what message he most wanted to convey in their debate on Tuesday.
“It’s time to turn over a new leaf on division. It’s time to unite our country, chart a new way forward,” he said.

Harris said she was honored by the endorsements of two prominent conservatives, former Vice President Dick Cheney and his daughter, former Representative Liz Cheney.
“It is important to put the country above the party,” he said.
When asked if she was ready to take on Trump, Harris simply replied, “Yes, I am ready.”
Crowds outside cheered as she left the store and Harris’ campaign released video of the vice president hugging supporters, including a young girl. (CNA/Z-6)
