Trump vs. US Supreme Court: The Battle to Delay Legal Proceedings

2023-12-23 00:42:16

New York : Former President Donald Trump approached the US Supreme Court once morest the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision disqualifying him from contesting the election. But observers believe Trump’s request that the Supreme Court should not now decide whether crimes committed while in office can avoid federal prosecution is an excuse to delay cases.

CNN points out that it is no secret that his goal is to delay legal proceedings until following the 2024 presidential election.

A Colorado court ruled that his name should not be placed on the 2024 ballot. If the decision of the US Supreme Court is postponed, Trump is counting on participating in the races, including the Republican primaries on January 23.

Special Counsel Jack Smith has asked the US Supreme Court to quickly give a decision on whether Trump, who lost the 2020 election, tried to subvert the constitution and tried to hold on to the law. If the US Supreme Court decides that there is no reason to exclude him, the cases will move forward. Trump’s move is to prevent it.

The Supreme Court’s decision is pending until the trial of the case, which is scheduled to begin in March. If the court accepts Trump’s request, that decision will be prolonged.

President Joe Biden did not comment Wednesday when asked regarding the Colorado ruling. But he pointed out that Trump certainly orchestrated the riots. Trump is trying to delay the Supreme Court decision to prevent Biden and Democrats from trying to activate the issue in the 2024 election. Efforts can be made to keep other subjects active.
