US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was the target of a shooting while campaigning in Pennsylvania on Saturday (13/7). He suffered a wound to his right ear and the perpetrator is believed to have been a professional shooter who fired from hundreds of meters away.
News agency CNN revealed three law enforcement sources, who confirmed that the shooter was outside the Trump campaign event. Two of the sources said the shooter was on the roof of a building outside the venue.
Reports from multiple sources, law enforcement refers to the individual as a sniper. However, additional details regarding that information are not yet clear.
Butler County District Attorney Richard Goldinger said he was notified by the chief of detectives that the shooter was in a building adjacent to the property.
“A rifle is needed (in a shooting like this. The distance is several hundred meters,” Goldinger was quoted as saying. CNN, Sunday (14/7).
Meanwhile, based on information from law enforcement to partners BBC in the US, CBS said the perpetrator shot from a distance of 200-300 feet or around 70 meters to 90 meters on a building roof with an AR type rifle.

Trump was immediately taken out by the Secret Service from where he was speaking following the shooting. “Trump appeared to fall as he was delivering his speech. He was quickly surrounded by armed security officers and remained still for regarding a minute,” the report said. Sky News.
When it was deemed safe, Trump then stood up and pumped his fist in the air, before being escorted off the stage and into a car. He was then driven away from the scene.
Several videos and photos showed blood coming from Trump’s ear as he was being led away. The former president appeared to be holding the side of his head as he fell to the ground. (P-5)
