Trump returns to Pennsylvania, a disputed destination in the US elections – Prensa Latina

Trump’s campaign announced that he will speak to supporters on Saturday afternoon at the Mohegan Sun Arena, which seats around 8,000 people, just two days before the start of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

According to records, this will be the former president’s seventh visit to Pennsylvania so far this year and at least the fifth time he has chosen Wilkes-Barre for one of his rallies since 2016.

Trump also held a campaign event in Harrisburg on July 31 and said he plans to return to Butler in October, though his campaign has not confirmed this.

The former governor was wounded in the ear in a shooting in Butler on July 13 by a 20-year-old gunman, Thomas Matthew Crooks, who was shot dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, on the Democratic side, Minnesota Governor and Kamala Harris’ running mate, Tim Walz, will deploy efforts this same day in Omaha, in his native Nebraska.

Walz, a West Point native, is looking to leverage his roots there to seek votes in a state where electoral votes are divided, as despite being Republican-leaning, the area surrounding Omaha is contested by both sides.

During the 2020 elections, the then Democratic candidate won the district and in 2016, Trump was the winner.

Following that rally, one of the last campaign events before the convention, Walz will join Harris on a bus tour of the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, area tomorrow, making stops in the western part of the state.

Last week, Harris officially introduced her vice presidential candidate and ticket at a rally in Philadelphia, signaling the importance both parties place on Pennsylvania.

Located in the northeast of the country, this is a state that could determine the winner of the elections this year. In 2020, Biden’s triumph in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan and Arizona defined the majority of electoral votes he needed to reach the White House.
