Donald Trump is alive by a couple of centimeters, those that separate him from the point where he was hit from the one that would have made him suffer the same fate as John Kennedy: let the permanent active service backstage analysts keep this in mind. But net of this (and precisely because the former President is still among us) we can say that the AR 15 (Armalite Rifle, Design 15) shot that did not kill him sends him, or rather sends him back, straight to the White House, because now he leaves the news and enters history. In other words, we are already beyond the challenge with Joe Biden (or whoever will take his place), we are already in a new Trump mandate and we must immediately understand what it will be: so we will try. Meanwhile, it must be said that despite the presence of highly questionable aspects of the character (terrible during the hours of Capitol Hill, self-referential and often inclined to Sergio Leone-style Saloon braggadocio) Trump plays fully “inside” democracy, in the face of many beautiful souls of liberal extraction. Indeed, he works like many right-wing leaders to keep “on board” a huge slice of public opinion that feels, rightly or wrongly, betrayed by the system. But then it must be said that for him too the fruit of experience is valid: that is, he can do better in the second term than in the first.
He can therefore put an end to the conflict in Ukraine, making it clear to Putin that he cannot play with the states close to him as if they were his own skittles, just as he can impose a step forward towards peace in the Middle East around two pillars: the indisputable security of Israel and the right of the Palestinian people to liberation from Hamas (on which Egypt and Saudi Arabia will have to apply). And then he can face the Chinese offensive in the East by defending Taiwan (with the help of South Korea, Japan and the Philippines) and making it clear to Beijing that no territorial expansion by military means is permitted. Then there is Europe, where the Trump recipe can contribute to finally sounding the alarm for everyone. There is little to throw into philosophy here: the Southern front (Mediterranean) and the Eastern one (towards Russia) are “our stuff” and it is time to emerge from adolescence. The cost of defense and security must be on the European budgets because it is right and (also) inevitable, Rome, London, Paris, Berlin and Warsaw should get used to the idea that soon the 2% will be surpassed by much greater needs.
Trump then has two essential chapters to measure his approval in the US. The first is a real turning point in terms of opposition to illegal immigration (the data of recent years at the southern border are simply impressive) and the second is in the strengthening of American industry in every possible direction (a theme that is no less valid for Europe). To understand better, let’s take an example: the battle once morest China’s excessive power in terms of electric batteries is certainly not done by screaming to the moon, but by favoring in every way all the productions that are needed, the automotive supply chain first and foremost. Of course, here no one has a crystal ball and hypotheses cannot be dispensed as absolute certainties. However, it is really very probable that the almost dead Trump (we are still two centimeters away) will end up beating the almost alive Biden (or his replacement). Elon Musk understood this very well, who has been screaming his support for the GOP candidate for hours. He is not the type who makes mistakes easily, as we have learned in recent years.
