Former US President Donald Trump wrote a series of posts on his website Truth Social on Friday, following the House Inquiry Committee released footage of Ivanka Trump, his daughter, casting doubt on his allegations of voter fraud in the 2020 election.
Trump posted onTruth SocialHis social media platform, posted a post opposing his daughter’s testimony saying, “Ivanka Trump has not been involved in the consideration or examination of the election results. She withdrew a long time ago and was, in my opinion, just trying to honor Bill Barr and his position as attorney general who was awful in it.”
According to The Hill, during Thursday’s public hearing, the House committee showed footage of her interview with Ivanka Trump, who allegedly believed Barr to her father, telling the committee: “It affected my view that I respected Attorney General Barr so I accepted what he said.” ?
The House Select Committee sought to demonstrate in a public hearing that Trump’s larger scheme to retain power and his refusal to accept the results of the 2020 election led to the January 6, 2021 violence.
The session included testimony and a video clip shown for the first time from the day of the Capitol attack to blame Trump for the January 6 events.
Liz Cheney, Vice Chair of the Select Committee, said during the hearing: “All Americans should bear this fact in mind that on the morning of January 6, President Trump’s intention was to remain President of the United States despite the legal outcome of the 2020 election and in violation of for his constitutional obligation to relinquish power.”
