Former President Donald Trump led this Sunday by a wide margin a poll on the favorite candidate to lead the Republican Party in a presidential election, held at the annual conference of American conservatives in Orlando, Florida.
Trump got 59% of the vote, well ahead of second-place Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (28%), who many see as the former president’s most serious future rival.
97% of the 2,574 people surveyed approved of Trump’s performance in the White House, and 99% were once morest the work of the current president, Democrat Joe Biden.
The result is not very surprising, a day following Trump’s speech at the conservative conference, in which he was once once more able to see his success among right-wing voters.
In the hypothetical case that Trump does not run for the 2024 presidential elections, 61% of those surveyed would vote for DeSantis, well ahead of former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Donald Trump Jr., the son of the former president, both with the 6 % of the votes.
