In the meantime, Trump himself has published an account of what happened on social media: “I knew immediately that something was wrong, because I heard a whoosh, gunshots and I immediately felt the bullet tearing through my skin.” The former president added that “there was a lot of bleeding, so I knew right then what was happening.” In his post, Trump expressed his condolences to the family of the person who attended his rally and was killed, and to the family of “another person who was seriously injured.” He then added that he knew nothing regarding the attacker. “I want to thank the United States Secret Service and all law enforcement for their quick response to the shooting that just happened in Butler, Pennsylvania,” Trump concluded.
