This Saturday the Dr. José Gregorio Hernández Classic began with the first stage, whose winner was the great of the team Trujillo Governorate – Mppop, Juan Ruiz, with a time of 3 hours, 9 minutes and 46 seconds, and a difference of 17 seconds with the second, who made a comeback in the last kilometres and surprised his rivals at the finish in Betijoque. In addition, the leader in the mountains and sprint was Jorman Fuentes of Team La Guacamaya with 12 points. In total, 132.90 kilometres were covered.

Jonathan Eugenio from La Guacamaya came second in the stage, Jesus Goyo from the Multimarca Sport Fina Arroz team came third and Jose Alarcon from the Government of Trujillo – Mppop came fourth.

Governor Gerardo Márquez stressed that this was the first satellite transmission of Venezuelan cycling and that they will work to optimize it. He commented that Juan Ruiz, the winner of the stage, deserves this victory. He added that he will talk with the Venezuelan Cycling Federation to organize a competition between children’s clubs.

He also announced that starting next year, as part of the Venezuelan Cycling Federation calendar, a classic opening race will be held on Trujillo roads.

The next prize was the Mountain Prize, at the height of the Bajada del Río, arriving at Valera. There the cyclist Pedro Sequera from Multimarca Sport Fina Arroz triumphed, then Gusneiber Gil from La Guacamaya and Jorman Fuentes also from Team La Guacamaya.

In the Eje Vial, again, the runners Fuentes, Sequera and Gil took advantage, who escaped from the pack and won first, second and third place, respectively, in the sprint of Los Ríos, Pampanito municipality; the Mountain sprint in Coco Frío, Carvajal municipality and the third sprint in Motatán.

Near Agua Viva, Gusneiber Gil of La Guacamaya received assistance for a flat tire and was caught by the group. Fuentes and Sequera remained in the lead for the rest of the stage.

Already in El Dividive, in the fourth and final sprint, Jorman Fuentes from Team La Guacamaya was crowned again, followed by Pedro Sequera from Multimarca Sport Fina Arroz and Yenfron Guerrero from Bandes – Governorate of La Guaira.
