TRUE OR FALSE. War in Ukraine: is France one of the 47 states considered by Russia to be its “enemies”?

A list is being widely circulated on social media, presented as those of the “enemies” designated by Russia who do not share the same “traditional Russian spiritual and moral values”.

On the social network X, formerly Twitter, a document is being massively shared. It mentions the “enemy countries” of Russia, or rather countries whose “moral values” Moscow denounces. The states that are listed are not, in reality, the “enemies” of Moscow, but those “implementing policies imposing neoliberal ideological guidelines contrary to traditional Russian spiritual and moral principles.”

47 states are listed, including France, Ukraine and the United States. Nations that have shown unambiguous support for kyiv, such as Germany, Spain and Italy, are also mentioned.

Encourage the reception of foreign citizens close to Russian values

The main objective of this legislation is to facilitate the reception in Russia of foreign citizens opposed to the values ​​of their government.Traces of a document were found in the Russian equivalent of the Official Journaldated September 17 and dedicated to providing “humanitarian support to people sharing traditional Russian spiritual and moral values.” On September 19, Vladimir Putin also signed a decree which aims to “support people who have made a free choice in favor of spiritual, cultural and legal ties with the Russian Federation.”

Thanks to this development, those citizens from the 47 listed countries who are opposed to their government will be able to obtain temporary residence permits in Russia more easily. This process will be done without respecting the usual quotas in force, and without the obligation to prove their knowledge of the Russian language, history or laws of the country. However, they will have to submit a statement explaining their rejection of their country’s policies and their reasons for settling in Russia.
