The day of this Monday the union of truckers Confederation of Transporters Fuerza del Norte began an indefinite strike partially blocking different routes in the north of the country.
Other unions joined the mobilization, such as the Association of Owners and Drivers of Paine Trucks.
Currently Ruta 5 Sur at the height of Paine at km 41 also remains partially blocked, with regarding twenty trucks hindering the tracks to the north and south. There is only one track enabled.
In this regard, as indicated this morning by Carlos Galaz, spokesman for this group, the mobilization is taking place because “No progress has been made on the issue of crime in our country.”
“As road drivers we don’t have any safe parking to be able to spend the night, sleep, And to that add the uncontrolled increase in fuels in general, both oil and gasoline”held.
As indicated, the mobilization will be maintained until tomorrow.
For his part, the Minister of Transport and Telecommunications, Juan Carlos Muñoz, highlighted that today in the morning the Minister of Finance Mario Marcel met with various representatives of the trade unions, “especially since the two most important requests from the representatives of the truckers who are mobilized are the value of diesel and the security issue.”
For his part, the deputy and general secretary of RN, Diego Schalper, asked the government to increase the channels of dialogue.
“We understand that if the truckers are having to reach that level, it is because the government has not had the capacity to dialogue sufficiently and find solutions.”
“If they are afraid on the road, it is because the government has not been able to guarantee these security conditions,” he added.
From Ruta del Maipo they called for maximum caution on the route.
This morning, the president of the National Cargo Transport Confederation (CNTC), Sergio Pérezaddressed this strike on Radio ADN, indicating that although his organization is not part of this mobilization, this was “a problem” that the government had to solve.
“We are nobody to call to depose the just mobilization of colleaguesthis is a problem that the government has to solve, this has to be solved urgently today by the government,” he said.
“The number one problem in Chile is security and crime, and number two is fuel.. We warned Minister (Mario) Marcel more than 90 days ago that his did not resolve the seriousness of the rise in fuel prices, this was going to end in a mobilization and the prophecy is being fulfilled, ”he added.
During the day today Monday, Perez held together with various unions a meeting with the Minister of Finance Mario Marcel, where they addressed the price of fuels. The conversation was valued positively by the president of the CNTC, who indicated that for now he ruled out joining the strike.
