A video having captured the violent shock, of which The newspaper obtained a copy, shows vehicles decelerating for several seconds at the sight of a slowdown on Highway 20, near Saint-Zotique.

However, a few tens of meters from the vehicles which are practically stopped, we see a truck appearing driving at high speed compared to the others, thus hitting a car head-on.

The accident claimed the life of a 13-year-old girl. Arrived at the horror scene, the emergency services tried everything to save the girl.

The truck even ended its race much further, almost in the opposite direction of Highway 20.

The sport utility vehicle (SUV) in which the victims were seated, which can be seen in the left rear view mirror of a slow-moving trailer, was trapped by the force of the impact between two heavy goods vehicles.

A 13-year-old girl died. The other passengers, a man and a woman respectively aged 49 and 44 and two children aged under 10 were seriously injured.

We still fear for the lives of two of them, we learned in the followingnoon on Monday.

On the video, we see many citizens who intervene to help the victims.

The driver of the truck, a 59-year-old man, would not have been able to slow down in front of the traffic, according to what the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) advanced, without specifying the reasons.

The SQ specified that an investigation was underway to determine if there are criminal elements in this accident.

The case began around 4:30 a.m. when a tanker truck veered off Highway 20, not far from the scene of the tragedy. The incident then caused some congestion. The fatal collision occurred around 10:45 a.m.
