A truck transporting five million bees was involved on Wednesday August 30 in a road accident in Burlington (Canada), we have just learned. The insects escaped and motorists were asked to roll with the windows closed to avoid any incidents.

This Wednesday, a truck with five million bees on board suffered a road accident in Canada. The insects were released into the wild, forcing motorists to drive with the windows closed. To deal with this situation, police and beekeepers were called to the scene.

“We don’t know exactly how or what happened, but at some point the boxes containing bees and their hives slipped off the trailer and spilled all over the road (…). Swarms of bees were flying everywhere,” a regional police officer told CBC News.

The majority of INSECTS recovered

According to Radio-Canada Ontario, a majority of the insects were recovered and returned to their hives. However, tens of thousands of bees are still in the wild.

“It’s important for people to understand that honey bees are quite gentle and don’t attack humans unless they are disturbed,” beekeeper Luc Peters told local media.
