Mobility in Luxembourg: Out of traffic jams at P+R Belval, the CFL app “badly used”

Barely put into service, the P+R Belval-Université is experiencing some hiccups. User reports report traffic jams forming at the exit and a waiting time of 10 to 15 minutes.
According to the CFL, these concerns are “often linked to the use of an outdated version of the P+R CFL application”. Because, since September 18, new pricing has been applied, and free access for 24 hours is limited to users of the app, and outside a radius of 1.5 km. The CFL also insist on the fact that “this geolocation is 100% legal, because only the entry point and the first position following having exceeded the 1.5 km radius are saved”.

In addition, according to some users, the car plate reader does not always recognize the plates. “Recognition rates vary between 97 and 99%,” retort the CFL. Who admit that “problems can arise in the event of unfavorable weather conditions or in the case of reflective number plates”. To overcome these inconveniences, users of the app have QR codes allowing them to enter and exit the P+R without automatic plate recognition. Explanatory signage has been posted at the exit and entry barriers.
“Each technological innovation generates new problems,” recognize the CFL, which relies on “human support to get through this transition phase.” Thus, customers were notified via letters, push notifications or distribution of flyers, in addition to on-site display.
Note that the P+R Rodange and Mersch operate according to an identical principle.
