The National Meteorological Office (Onamet) is monitoring this Sunday a tropical wave that is located in the southeast of the Caribbean Sea and that might become a tropical depression.
The entity indicates that this high pressure system might directly affect national territory starting next Tuesday, although it does not rule out the incidence of rain in some regions of the country and strong winds this Sunday.
The regions where isolated showers might occur in the morning are to the northeast and east, as well as the Cibao Valley and the Central Mountain Range, especially the provinces of La Altagracia, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, Samaná, María Trinidad Sánchez and Espaillat. .
While in the followingnoon, downpours with thunderstorms are expected over Greater Santo Domingo, San Pedro de Macorís, Monte Plata, San Cristóbal, San José de Ocoa, La Vega, Monseñor Nouel, San Juan, Elías Pina and Dajabón, among other locations.
The Onamet indicates that the climatic conditions will not present significant changes in terms of rainfall due to a reduction in humidity and the presence of dust from the Sahara, causing the sky to appear greyish.
Onamet recommends that the operators of fragile and small vessels remain in port, however, in the rest of the Atlantic coast as well as in the Caribbean coast, they can carry out their operations with caution near the coastal perimeter without venturing offshore due to wind and abnormal waves.
