- Venezuelan meteorologist Luis Vargas reported in his latest climate bulletin that conditions favorable to rain will continue in a large part of the national territory.
Venezuelan meteorologist Luis Vargas reported on Monday, October 14, that a tropical wave is moving through northern Venezuela, which is causing rain and precipitation in several states of the country.
The expert detailed, through his and Guárico.

Vargas also explained that rainfall in the rest of the country will be more isolated. This means that in other areas, rain will not be frequent or continuous. Instead, they will occur dispersedly, affecting only some localities occasionally.
In addition, the specialist highlighted that this forecast could change in the next few hours, since it depends on the activity of the tropical wave and the weather conditions during the day.
What is a tropical wave?
A tropical wave is a meteorological phenomenon consisting of a type of trough, which causes areas of clouds and storms. These systems form in the west of the African continent and transit the Atlantic Ocean from east to west.
The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (Inameh) predicted that at least 65 tropical waves would reach Venezuela in 2024.
For its part, Inameh indicated that the transit of the tropical wave will leave rain in Venezuela. The agency said the day’s rainwater accumulations will range from 2 to 35 liters of water per square meter with maximums of 75 liters in the state of Amazonas.
On the other hand, the maximum temperatures will be recorded in Guayana Esequiba. They will reach 38 degrees Celsius, estimates the national climate agency.
Rains and floods in Venezuela
In recent weeks, heavy rains have affected several states in the country. These precipitations caused river overflows, flooding and damage in various areas. The authorities have urged the population to remain alert and follow safety recommendations to avoid risks.
In Caracas, users on social networks reported rains of varying intensity with strong thunder on October 5 in several areas of the Capital District such as Maripérez, Pinto Salinas, Propatria, El Paraíso, Bello Monte, among other sectors.
In the state of Miranda, rainfall was also recorded in different areas such as Las Mercedes, Prados del Este, Petare and La California, which caused traffic chaos due to flooding on the roads.
There were also reports of flooding on the Intercomunal de Guarenas-Guatire avenue, specifically on the street that connects with the north runway.
Likewise, on October 7, several communities in the states Monagas, Sucre and Nueva Esparta were affected by weather conditions.
The government of Nicolás Maduro maintains an active national plan to reduce risks during the rainy season, which began in the country on May 1 and will end on November 30. The measure includes all contingency protocols for any event, as well as evacuation plans and installation of shelters to deal with emergencies.
