Tropical storm Roslyn will cause rain in Colima and Jalisco – El Occidental

The National Meteorological Service reported that at 10:00 a.m. this Thursday, tropical depression Nineteen-E became tropical storm Roslyn, off the coast of Guerrero, in the western Mexican Pacific.

Until that time, its center was located 280 kilometers south of Zihuatanejo, Guerrero, and 490 kilometers south-southeast of Manzanillo, Colima, with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour, gusts of 85 km/h and moving west at 9 km/h.

During the next few hours, the Roslyn cloud bands will cause intense punctual rains (75 to 150 mm) in regions of Guerrero, very strong (50 to 75 mm) in areas of Michoacán; and strong (from 25 to 50 mm) in Colima, Jalisco and Oaxaca.

In addition to gusts of wind of 50 to 70 km/h and waves of 2 to 4 meters high on the coasts of Colima, Guerrero and Michoacán.

The forecast rains might generate landslides, increase in river and stream levels, overflows and floods in low-lying areas of the aforementioned states.

For this reason, the population and maritime navigation are urged to be attentive to the warnings of the National Meteorological Service, of the National Water Commission, and to follow the indications of the state, municipal and Civil Protection authorities.

On the other hand, the same mass of cold air that drives the frontal system will cause a cold to very cold environment in the states of the North and Central tables, for which reason minimum temperatures of -5 to 0 degrees Celsius are forecast with frosts in the mountains of Chihuahua, Durango and the State of Mexico.

Also 0 to 5 degrees Celsius with possible frost in mountainous areas of Aguascalientes, Coahuila, Guanajuato, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Michoacan, New Leon, Puebla, Queretaro, San Luis Potosí, Tamaulipas, Tlaxcala, Veracruz and Zacatecas.
