“Trois-Rivières Lions Coach Marc-André Bergeron Reflects on Team’s Season and Future in Candid Interview”

Despite the fact that the Trois-Rivières Lions did not make the playoffs, Marc-André Bergeron is still satisfied with his team’s season.

At least that’s what he said in an interview with Jean-Charles Lajoie on Monday.

“We didn’t make the playoffs, but we weren’t light years away from making the playoffs. We were five wins away from making the playoffs. I remember having found, very often during the season, that we deserved a better fate after a match. I think the five meetings were there.”

Without wanting to start looking for excuses, the spectacular number of injured players in the Montreal Canadiens organization has greatly affected the Trois-Rivières Lions.

“It is certain that when you play the majority of your season with a roster that is not complete, it complicates things. We are the little brothers of the Montreal Canadiens. Jeff Gorton said in a press conference that it was a record year for injuries. Automatically, it tumbles down to us. I think the relationship is very good, but you can’t prepare for the unpreparable.”

As for his future with the team, Bergeron still hasn’t decided whether he will remain the head coach of the Lions or if he will seek to hire a new one.

“I love my role as Vice President and General Manager. I enjoyed coaching more than I anticipated. I need to rest and think about next season to really see what shoes I want to put on. As we speak, I want to give myself the time to have a good reflection and to talk about it with my family. I want to keep all options open to make sure I make the right decision.”
