President of the Jewish Community of Salzburg and the Jewish Community of Graz appeals to the public regarding the current situation in Israel

Vienna/Graz/Salzburg (OTS) With an urgent appeal to the public, the President of the Jewish Community of Salzburg and the Jewish Community of Graz, Elie Rosen, commented on the recent terrorist attacks in Israel.

The EU alone has transferred more than 8 billion euros to the Palestinian territories since the Oslo Agreement, thereby inevitably supporting Hamas. Due to the constantly deteriorating security situation, the funds did not contribute to improving the peace process, but rather promoted terrorist mobilization.

Hamas is a radical terrorist organization that has set itself the goal of destroying the Jewish state and is wreaking havoc in the so-called autonomous areas without any democratic legitimacy. Nevertheless, their representatives have been received with the highest honors in many countries in recent years. Anyone who courts Hamas in this way and invests in it directly or indirectly should not be surprised if this action now bears fruit.

Attacks on the territorial integrity of the Israeli state, the murder and abduction of people or the desecration of corpses, which were also celebrated on social media, are acts that neither Israel itself nor democratic states must accept. However, mere expressions of solidarity are unnecessary. Rather, the events should lead to rapid consequences in the allocation and control of financial resources to the “Palestinian” areas and an immediate ostracism of Hammas representatives.

In times of re-emerging anti-Semitism in Europe, the State of Israel is not just reassurance for Jews from all over the world. Israel is also the guarantor of stability and democracy in the Middle East itself. It should not be overlooked that an escalation of current terrorist acts, possibly involving Iran and Lebanon, might have devastating consequences for world peace. It is therefore important to show solidarity with Israel and to follow actions on the political stage instead of just words.
