Mumbai: While there are ongoing debates regarding reservations in the state, a pleasant news has emerged. In 2018, the then Devendra Fadnavis government provided reservations for orphaned children for the first time in the country. Orphaned and destitute children were often excluded from various government benefits due to a lack of caste certificates after leaving institutional care. To enable orphaned children to avail themselves of various benefits from the state government, 1 percent parallel reservation was implemented in education and employment from the open category. Ashwin Agavane has become the first lawyer in the country to benefit from this reservation. He expressed his gratitude towards Fadnavis by posting on the platform X. In response to this post, Devendra Fadnavis also shared his opinion.
