Liza Minelli and Elton John are some of the international stars that have stepped on that “stage”. Those were other times, the 1960s and 1970s, when the triplex in Lagoa belonged to the music producer Alfredo Machado, who always used the third floor as an informal studio. Today, the property has another owner, but his vocation for music remains untouched.

Amateur musician and lover of parties and jam sessions, he was keen to keep the studio. But, of course, he renovated everything. So, as he did throughout the apartment of more than 1,000 m²which underwent a long renovation carried out by the architect Maurício Nóbrega, a professional from the cast of CASACOR Rio de Janeiro.

In addition to all the necessary acoustic treatment, the studio received a lighting project by Maneco Quinderé, who made the space a stage light. After all, there are many musicians – professional or not, famous or not so famous – who usually frequent the space.

In addition to the studio – which was opened to the green – the third floor also gained a Music room (to store the instruments) and the entire structure to host parties: bar, lounge, gourmet kitchen and swimming pool on the veranda which was fully integrated creating a large social area.

“The idea was for the apartment to become almost like a club. Both to receive musician friends, and to receive their children and nine grandchildren, since many of them live abroad and when they come to Brazil they stay at their grandfather’s house”, says Maurício.

No wonder, in addition to an entire floor dedicated to leisure, the property also gained five comfortable suites and had the old service area, located in an external shed, transformed into atelier, toy library and gym – entitled to climbing wall for the little ones.

Located at the top of a hill, the The apartment also has an exclusive entrance through the back of the building., which makes it even more special, as it feels like home. This private façade, by the way, was also renovated by Maurício, who built a stone wall there that brought even more charm to the property. O landscaping is by Barbara Soveral.

The decor has completely changed. A detail added by the architect was the use of peroba wood, which appears in virtually all environments: on panels, brises and even on the cladding of the living room pillars, in addition to the master bedroom and bathrooms. The furniture was reused from the residents’ old apartment, also renovated by Maurício around ten years ago.

“It was all so timeless that we decided to keep it. and we created a layout to accommodate the pieces they already had. It was only necessary to increase the art collectionbecause this apartment has more walls, because it is bigger”, he concludes.
