This Friday the 21st we talked with “el Pochito” regarding this great responsibility and these were his words:

How does Jaime feel regarding being the figure of the moment, that this weekend you have the task of trying to triple crown My Dear Emma?

-Greetings to all the equestrian fans, thank you for the opportunity to greet you and for the interview. For this Sunday, it’s certainly a pretty big commitment, and I’m very grateful to God for this happiness that we can achieve this weekend in his name.

Let’s talk regarding your commitments for this Sunday. In the first one you have the Moro de Oro specimen that has just won in the distance, how has the work been with him?

-This is a horse that showed me that he is a great specimen, in his work and in his under tack I loved it and he showed me that he is a fairly strong horse. In the lot, for me this competition is a classic mini and well, this copy is going to be quite tough in this race.

In the third you have Cañonera Girl as a mount, what is your opinion regarding her?

-This week I did not have the opportunity to work her, since she is a mare who works her is the traqueador, she is a strong mare, all run well, she is very feisty, respecting all those who go there; We are going to have a nice race.

In the fifth, you have Tower Star. What can you tell us regarding this specimen?

-Look, this is a specimen that I won in its last one, it is a pretty strong lot. What I can tell you is not to leave him out of the picture because we are going to be deciding this race as well.

You have Perla Deltana in the sixth and the Emperador specimen in the eighth. Tell us regarding these two mounts?

-Perla Deltana is my third opportunity with her, I have won both times that I have ridden her and I am very grateful to the trainer and her owners for the opportunity. She is going to run with the four-year-olds, she is in very good condition and we are going to be good in this competition.

-The horse Emperador is quite fast, he walks very well and he is quite a strong horse, with him I also hope to have a good race.

The highlight of the day on Sunday is in the fourth. You are going for the “General Joaquín Crespo” Classic, where My Dear Emma will seek to achieve the feat of triple crowning. How are you feeling, how has work been with the mare this week?

-It is quite a strong commitment, as I already said, I have known her since she was two years old, from the first moment I rode her I knew that the mare was of quality.

-I did not have the opportunity to debut her, but since God always acts well, the mare fell into my hands and I have a fairly large role, I already have four victories and a second with her, at this moment she is in the time (time) and right now the problems are solved.

-The work that coach Ramón García did and that coach Gabriel Márquez is now following is impeccable and with the favor of God we will be triple crowning ourselves.

And not just the Triple Crown, if she wins she would be the third mare in consecutive years, to tie Sandovalera and Lyndacarter.

-Yes, with her it will be the third triple crown in a row. Well, there is a lot of responsibility and nerves that are never lacking, but we are going with everything with the favor of God.

You have a great figure next to you, your father, “El General” Jaime “El pocho” Lugo; What does he tell you? What are the tips he has given you this week before the race?

-As everyone knows, my dad is a person of few words, I appreciate everything I have learned from him, he is an excellent teacher and although sometimes what we talk regarding the least is horses, at home we talk regarding other things, sharing with the family, but there is always a moment when the issue of horses comes up.

-He tells me what pressure we all have, “I also get pressure, but don’t get carried away by that, try to relax the mare for the first few meters, don’t despair, run where the mare tells you she is going to run”. With these tips that my father has given me and the support of my wife, my mother, my sister and my whole family, with God’s favor we are going to make it.

At this moment all the fans have their eyes on Jaime “Pochito” Lugo. What do you say to them?

-Well, yes, it is a great responsibility, but full confidence in the mare, let’s move forward.

A greeting to the equestrian fans and your words so that they come to see this beautiful show

-First of all, thank all the equestrian fans who support us, I invite you to come this Sunday to the grand gala of the mare’s triple crown, because with her we can soon represent her in the Caribbean Ladies Cup classics and why not we can also be in the Caribbean classic.

-Grateful to Antonio Álvarez for the excellent facilities at the La Rinconada racetrack that makes it better every day, blessings to all and good health.
