Football scout and coach Francis Cagigao, a former England star, said that Argentine superstar Lionel Messi had tried to bring Lionel Messi to Arsenal club many times, but it was not possible.
Cagigao said that it was when Messi was playing in Barcelona’s youth club and he had talks with Horacio Gaggioli, the representative of Argentina at the time. This was reported by the news agency Metro.
“Messi’s situation was not favorable then. He did not have a work permit in the UK. We had several meetings with Horazio Gaggioli for this purpose. But it was not going to happen,’ Kagigao said.
At the same time, he also said that he had tried to bring former Barcelona star Gerard Pique to the club. Kagigao said that it did not happen because of bureaucratic problems and Cesc Fabregas would have been brought into the team instead.
“We were unable to sign Pique due to some bureaucratic issues. Finally we got Fabregas from that big team called Barca,’ he said.
Fabregas would go on to become a standout player at Arsene and would go on to become one of the club’s greatest midfielders of all time. Currently playing for Serie B side Como, Fabregas has scored 57 goals and provided 95 assists in 303 appearances for Arsenal.
