The coach of Petro de Luanda, José Neto, said that the “Kalahari” Conference of the African Basketball League (BAL), which the city of Pretoria, South Africa, hosts from the 9th to the 17th of this month, will be difficult and will require more team effort.

In a press conference, following the last training session in the country, José Neto stated that it will be a very difficult competition for his group, despite the regulations providing for the registration of five foreign players.

The coach added that all teams set out with the same objective, to qualify for the last phase, which is why he explained that the fact that the Angolan champion is a totalist in the competition generates huge expectations, but the group’s work will be revealed in the competition. .

“From 2021 to now, the teams have evolved a lot. So we need to align expectations with reality, because it will be very difficult for us”, he said.

José assured that following thirty days he trained with the full group, some of whom were working for the National Team and others are in the recovery process.

Carlos Morais, John Pedro and Aboubakar Gakou are the athletes who are recovering, so they did not play in the quarter-finals of the Angola Cup.

In the Kalahari conference, which marks its debut in the competition, Petro will play once morest Fus de Rabat (Morocco), Cape Town Tigers (South Africa) and Dynamo (Burundi). The final phase will take place in Rwanda between May and June, with the top two teams from each conference qualifying.
