After the brutal death of Yannik Mazzilli, actor from Scènes de ménages, on July 29, tributes continue to pour in. This Saturday, August 3, 2024, it was Flavie Péan, a colleague, who sent him a tender message on Instagram in tribute to her friend.
Yannik Mazzilli, the actor known for his role as Hervé in Scènes de ménages on M6, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2024. The news was confirmed by his agent, Julie Chen, the following day. In an emotional tribute posted on social media, she expressed her deep admiration for Yannik, highlighting his professionalism, kindness, and warm smile. Julie Chen wrote: “My Yannik… I am so proud to have been your agent and your friend all these years. I will miss your professionalism, your kindness, and your warm smile immensely. I will always remember the moments shared, the laughter, and the challenges we faced together. Thank you for everything; you will always remain in our hearts and our laughter as you leave an indelible mark on our world. All my thoughts are with your wife and children.”
In an interview with Paris Match, Vanessa Denaive, Yannik’s widow, spoke about the circumstances of his death and expressed some regrets. “He fell ill about ten years ago. They found a fairly benign brainstem glioma. He managed to overcome it, no longer speaking of it and wanting to avoid dealing with it too much. And this glioma transformed into a glioblastoma, a stage 4 brain cancer,” she explained. Vanessa also shared her pain regarding Yannik’s denial about the severity of his illness. “But Yann was sure he would get through it; he took us all along with him in his denial. Perhaps if we had known the gravity of the situation, we would have considered things differently. We never discussed his end of life; he didn’t have time to tell me what he wanted for his funeral…”
A Ceremony to Say Goodbye
Vanessa Denaive also revealed that the seriousness of the situation was unknown to many, even to Yannik’s brother, who only discovered the reality at the last moment. “Very few people knew. Even his brother, who arrived as soon as he understood, he had not explained the seriousness of the situation to him… Even between the two of us, we ultimately did not have the discussions we should have had,” she lamented. In the face of the numerous tributes received, Vanessa emphasized the complexity of experiencing this outpouring of support after her husband’s death. “Of course, I am happy. But I would have preferred if this happened while he was alive. It’s a job that was so hard for him,” she confided.
On Saturday, August 3, 2024, Flavie Péan, another iconic figure from Scènes de ménages, paid an emotional tribute to Yannik Mazzilli on Instagram. While she attended the ceremony held at the Théâtre de la Renaissance, she wrote: “The most beautiful of ceremonies for the most wonderful artist. Just like you, Yaya, full of love.” She then revealed that a dressing room is now named after the actor. “And now at the Théâtre de la Renaissance, forever.” So many emotions!
