Trial of the massacre of September 28: the hearing of the day postponed to tomorrow

2023-05-02 15:56:40

After the interrogation of three victims of the tragic events of September 28, 2009, this Tuesday, May 2, 2023, the court decided to postpone the hearing until tomorrow Wednesday.

It was following the request of the civil party that Judge Ibrahima Sory 2 Tounkara decided to postpone the hearing for lack of victims. “There was another victim who was scheduled, but unfortunately she left the room and we can’t reach her on the phone and you can postpone this case until tomorrow. We are going to program 4 victims” suggested Maitre Amadou Oury, lawyer for the civil party.

For Maître Pépé Antoine Lamah, this request to postpone the civil party consists in entertaining the court and delaying the procedure. “At this stage of the proceedings, the defense of President Moussa Dadis Camara believes that the civil party is playing with the court. We thought that all the victims whose lists were added to the file of the procedure should be present in the room to hear them and move on to another stage. We would like you to be able to adjourn this matter at a date of your convenience to call the testimonies whose lists were filed before the first hearing. It must be remembered that we are in criminal matters and in this matter, we do not call witnesses just anyhow. There are people whom the public prosecutor in application of the code of criminal procedure had summoned well before the hearing, we know where to find these people quoted and we believe that at this stage, it is necessary to allow us to move forward. This trial will not last forever, it must end”.

After listening to these lawyers, the court has decided to adjourn the hearing to tomorrow Wednesday, May 03.
