Trial continues so that Q34 million from Abadía goes to the State

The former superintendent of the SAT, Marco Tulio Abadío, continues his criminal fight to recover Q34 million of his property that has been seized, and if he does not have a favorable ruling, the indicated amount could pass in favor of the State.
The trial takes place in the Domain Forfeiture Court. This Tuesday, April 30, financial experts testified before the judge, who gave details of how SAT funds were diverted to companies linked to Abadío.
In 2007, Abadía was sentenced to 30 years in prison; However, he was released from prison in 2017 because a court ordered his release for having worked inside the prison.
Judge transferred
On April 8, Judge Marco Vinicio Villeda was notified of his transfer to the Criminal Court of First Instance, which would take effect as of April 30; However, he has not taken office because the judge who will hand him over is suspended from work by the Guatemalan Social Security Institute due to a medical situation.
The decision to transfer the judge to a new judiciary was made by the plenary session of judges of the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ), the appointment is based on the results of the performance evaluation.
Before his transfer is carried out, the judge must finalize the process against the former head of the SAT.
