This morning, the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) restarted the trial once morest former ARENA deputy, Norman Quijano, who is prosecuted for negotiating with gangs during the 2014 presidential elections.
The evidence found by the FGR, including videos and photographs, demonstrates that Quijano negotiated with the gangs to receive their votes during the elections and, in exchange, provide benefits to their criminal structures, including giving them at least $100,000 USD.
In January 2022, the First Criminal Chamber of San Salvador ordered the arrest of Quijano. The former parliamentarian is accused of the crimes of procedural fraud and illicit groups, however, he is currently fleeing from Salvadoran justice.
