Police sources confirmed that, due to the intervention of officials from the Abigeato Brigade, they captured the specimen with a rope and locked it in a cage to later release it in its habitat.
“It was a specimen of approximately 1.70 meters. The animal was healthy; he was persuaded through some bars to enter the cage and once he was captured he was transferred to the Yacaré Project, in Bajada Grande, for his release in Parque San Martin, ”he told Elonce the head of the seventh police station, Julián Ludi, who confirmed that the alligator “was in front of the house, under some trees.”
So far it is unknown how the alligator would have reached the place since in the vicinity of Morath street there are no nearby lagoons or streams. “Presumably, the animal might have left its habitat, an area of lagoons, and have gotten there,” the commissioner estimated.
The animal was transferred to the headquarters of the Yacaré Project, in Bajada Grande, and in the followingnoon hours of this Saturday it was transferred to Parque San Martin for its release. (Elonce)
