In the Chiara Petrolini case, there are some details that don’t add up. This is the investigation into the two children found dead in the garden of the villa in Vignale di Traversetolo for which Chiara Petrolini, 22 years old and mother of the two, is being investigated, accused of premeditated voluntary homicide aggravated by kinship, with regard to the child found last August 9, and of suppression of a corpse for the little one born in May 2023. Yet, with regard to the involvement of the 22 year old’s parents, there is still a lot of talk: even if the two are apparently unaware of everything, according to the latest evidence.
In fact, any doubts about the possible involvement of Chiara’s parents were dispelled by an environmental interception of a conversation between the girl and her mother. After the discovery of the first newborn and the daughter under investigation, prosecutor Alfonso D’Avino explained, the mother asked the girl if “the other time, with that heavy bleeding”, she was pregnant. In short, a sign that the mother could not have known about her daughter’s pregnancy. However, Chiara denied the first pregnancy, and then admitted to the magistrate that she had already given birth to a newborn in May of last year, giving birth at home alone, on the 12th of that month, while her parents were at her brother’s piano recital. Another episode related to the second birth also further convinced the prosecutor’s office of the parents’ innocence. It seems that on the morning of August 7, 2024, Chiara’s father had noticed some traces of blood on a couple of rugs and the taps in the bathroom. Chiara, at that point, justified herself by explaining that she had a heavy period.
