A young man describes his experience of traveling with a pet dog on the leading airline Akasha Air. A young man named Lakshay Pathak was traveling from Ahmedabad to Bengaluru with a pet Shih Tzu dog. In a post shared on social media, Lakshay described everything from the flight delay to the misbehavior on the part of the ground staff of the plane to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
The young man shared his deep disappointment in the note, describing the promises he got and what he had to face when he bought a pet ticket for Rs 5000. The flight was supposed to depart at 10.20 pm. However, the flight started very late at 1.40 am. Then Laksha and his wife had to wait for six hours at the airport. He alleged that domestic animals were not handled effectively by ground staff and CISF. In the note, the young man pointed out that no promises made by the airline company were fulfilled when pets were taken with them on the journey and misleading information was given while purchasing the ticket.
“The airport staff refused to let the pets out of the container even following the flight was delayed. “No necessary steps were taken to urinate the dog,” said Lakshay. “Three times we were asked by the security officer not to put the dog on the floor while waiting at the airport. All the toilets in the airport have loud blowers. Due to this the dog might not urinate. Ground staff and CISF did not help in going out and coming back from the airport. Meanwhile, the ground staff told me that there is a dog urinating facility inside the plane,” he said.

Lakshay testified that the situation was not the same inside the plane. He described the flight as having inadequately trained and unprofessional crew members. Lakshay added that they failed to understand the needs of the dog and created a stressful environment for the passengers and their pets alike by saying contradictory things.
“There were no special seats inside the plane for pets, why not even a seat at the very back of the plane. The dog had to suffer extreme heat for 40 minutes during boarding as the AC was not working. By this time we were sweating too. My dog was barking for 45 minutes. So, I took the container on my lap to appease it. I put the dog’s head out because it mightn’t breathe. However, none of this is ‘really allowed’. Pets must be kept under our seats for the duration of the journey. We all know how much space there is,” Lakshya said.
His post gained attention on social media with Lakshay tagging Animal Welfare Society India and PETA. At the same time, Akash Air noticed Lakshya’s post and responded that they are investigating the incident. Akasha Air officials informed Lakshay that their team will reach out to you soon and express their regret for the inconvenience.
