Traveling to the USA: Three secrets about Georgia

In the heart of Georgia, the small town of Macon will host its 40th International Cherry Blossom Festival from March 18-27, 2022. More than 300,000 Yoshino cherry trees line the streets and transform Macon into a pink and white sea of blossoms every year. The founder of the splendor of colors is William A. Fickling Sr., who discovered the first Yoshino cherry tree in his garden in 1949, which is rather atypical for the southern USA, later propagated it and gave the cuttings to the community free of charge. The number of trees continues to grow as the Fickling Family Foundation donates thousands of cherry trees to Macon residents each year, earning the city the title of “Cherry Blossom Capital of the World.” During the cherry blossom season, there are not only celebrations as part of the festival, but also the Cherry Blossom Trail, which leads through the city center and to numerous historic buildings along the blossoming splendor.
