Traveling to RBD’s Concerts in Medellín: Flights, Accommodations, and Ticket Resale

The fervor and expectation for the return of the Mexican group RBD to the stage seems to be diminishing as the date of the four concerts in Medellín approaches, which will be on November 3, 4, 5 and 6 at the Atanasio Girardot stadium.

Despite having sold out consecutively, quickly selling out the dates of their shows scheduled for November, the resale of tickets skyrocketed on social networks.

There are various reasons that may explain this trend. Some maintain that the high prices of flights to Medellín and the cost of accommodation in the city have influenced the decision to resell the tickets.

After a survey carried out on November 1 at 8:00 am through the airlines’ website and selecting November 2 as an example to travel, the price of a flight from Bogotá ranges between $650,000 and $950,000 on Latam Airlines with 10 flights available, while, at Avianca, the range is between $470,000 and $730,000, having 14 flights that day.

These prices are subject to the schedule and size of luggage needed, in addition to the fact that this type of flight is one-way only, since return flights for November 7 can be up to $890,000, depending on the airline and the luggage.

If platforms with a more affordable price are used, such as Wingo, the flights on November 2, 3 and 4 are “sold out”. Despite this, the price for November 1 starts from $553,000, and for November 5 from $372,000.

As with Wingo, Satena also has all tickets sold out until November 5, when the price ranges between $370,000 and $567,000.

However, there are other ways to go to Medellín, such as by intermunicipal buses. Conducting the survey once more on November 1 at 8:00 am and selecting the same day (November 2) from Bogotá, the company Rápido Ochoa offers a price of $150,000 one way. Other companies, such as Rápido Tolima or Flota Magdalena, do not have tickets available until November 5, with their price being $120,000 and $105,000, respectively.

Although the bus ticket has a lower price than the plane ticket, the former’s journey lasts between 10 and 11 hours, while the plane’s journey is only a little over an hour.

Regarding accommodation, in the Booking.com metasearch engine, the price per night in a hotel can reach $1.9 million without taking into account the distance to the Atanasio Girardot stadium.

On the other hand, Airbnb offers slightly higher prices, specifically up to $3.1 million per night. The tourism platform TripAdvisor, for its part, manages prices that reach $1.1 million per night. Even on its page it indicates that, from November 2 to 5, the prices are the most expensive of the month.

Taking into account the prices shown, choosing the most expensive transportation options among the more than 24 options, along with those for accommodation on November 2, you would be paying a total of $4.05 million.

These prices take into account that you are only staying one day and without taking into account the return ticket and additional expenses in Medellín, which can greatly increase the prices of your stay in the city of eternal spring.

Karol G’s concert might be another reason for the resale of RBD. In addition to economic aspects, another factor might be promoting the resale of tickets: Karol G’s concert scheduled for December 1 at the Atanasio Girardot stadium. Some people might be considering attending this show instead of going to RBD’s concerts, which have ticket prices ranging from $114,000 to $1.4 million. The singer has only announced one date for Medellín.
