MINISTER of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi advised the public to return to Jakarta early for the 2024 Eid holiday. This is to avoid traffic congestion on toll roads.

“We really have to manage the existing days, we have 4 days, starting tomorrow until Monday, Tuesday is coming. The peak is estimated to be Sunday and Monday,” said Budi Karya at KM 70 of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, Thursday , (11/4).

Budi Karya conveyed this appeal in line with President Joko Widodo’s recommendation. Namely, returning to Jakarta earlier can be Friday, April 12 2024 or Saturday, April 13 2024.

“Because on Sunday and Monday there will definitely be a big increase,” said Budi.

Budi said that managing return flows is more difficult than homecoming flows. Therefore, he said, his party had mapped the points prone to traffic jams on the reverse flow route.

“The most critical experience from last year was in the Salatiga area to Semarang. Because from Jogja, from Solo, from Ngawi, from Madiun it piled up there. Even from Demak and so on,” said Budi Karya.

On the other hand, Budi Karya also warned travelers who want to travel back to use official travel services. This is to anticipate undesirable things.

“We urge those who will return to their hometowns, look for a fit vehicle, look for a fresh driver, not have been driving for 4 days continuously,” he said.

Then, the public is also asked to be wary of travel that has excess capacity. If forced to use unofficial travel

“But we recommend that our brothers use official ones such as buses and so on,” he concluded. (Z-8)
