Travel: booster vaccination will be chargeable

People who request a booster vaccination once morest Covid-19 to go on a trip will have to pay for it themselves. The Federal Council on Friday set the conditions for access to vaccinations for non-medical reasons.

Each country is free to define the conditions of entry into its territory. Depending on its destination, it may therefore be necessary to receive a new booster dose. Those interested can receive the injection in centers designated by the cantons.

They will pay the costs themselves. The price will be set by the cantons and the vaccination centres. All recommended vaccinations, such as the second booster for people with weakened immune systems, will remain free.

Entrance without certificate

The Federal Council has also taken over two new European Union (EU) regulations concerning the digital Covid certificate. The Swiss certificate will thus be compatible with international requirements.

Currently, Switzerland does not impose any restrictions for entry into its territory, so no certificate is necessary. For trips abroad, the government recommends finding out in good time regarding the rules in force in the country of destination. He recalls that many countries outside the EU do not accept the Swiss Covid electronic certificate. It is therefore advisable to take a printed version of the certificate with you.
