The Argentine Federation of Associations of Travel and Tourism Companies (Faevyt), which represents all Argentine travel agencies, presented an amparo through which it requests that Justice declare the unconstitutionality of DNU 70/2023 at the point in which it intends repeal the general regime for travel agents (Law 18,829).

“It is essential to highlight that the repeal of the travel agent regime directly impacts the rights acquired by travel and tourism companies that, by complying with this law, provide security to passengers and stability to the sector,” said the president of that entity. , Andrés Deyá, through a statement.

And, he pointed out that “the disappearance of this rule, as proposed by the DNU, would promote absolutely unfair competition with people who are not professionals in the tourist activity and who will not have any control to correctly carry out their work or provide any type of guarantee to passengers.”

Deyá stressed that “the offer of tourist services without any control enables intermediation without complying with minimum guidelines of legality and responsibility towards users and consumers who are exposed to any type of scam and abuse by subjects who obtain lucrative benefits by operating in informality.”

Likewise, Faevyt announced that they are working on consolidating their quality seal as well as other tools that will give even more strength and security to travel companies and passengers.

“We are one of the largest, most diverse and competitive sectors in Argentina. There are more than 5 thousand registered agencies throughout the country, there are hundreds of thousands of jobs that are put at risk in the face of unfair competition that will also have direct consequences on users, which is why we move forward with this protection requesting that this measure be declared unconstitutional,” the statement highlighted.
