The Traun municipal council unanimously decided to set up a youth advisory board – and thus takes into account the desire expressed by the young people in the online survey to want to get involved. When asked: “Would you like to get involved in what is happening in Traun?” 20 percent answered “yes”, 42 percent stated that they “may” want to do so.
5000 Euro Budget
Meetings are to take place three to four times a year, these are chaired by “Jugend im Dialog” (Volkshilfe). The ideas developed by the young people there are then to be discussed with the political authorities. “It is very important to us in this context that the young people learn to take responsibility independently and to work well and sensibly with the allocated budget of 5000 euros,” says Mayor Karl-Heinz Koll (VP) and Youth and Leisure Councilor Dominik Ortmann (SP).
Parallel to the youth advisory board, a youth regulars’ table is also to be set up. The aim there is to work out a long-term youth development plan, and current issues should also be dealt with. The projects are forwarded either to the youth advisory board or to the city office.
