Transporters reject diesel price increase

Alfonso Medrano, president of the Inter-union Chamber of Transport and driver with more than 12 years of experience, warns that the adjustment in the price of diesel will mainly affect 80% of drivers, who are small owners.

“If a tractor-trailer consumes a million and a half from me and they pay me a million, I can’t operate because where do I get the 500 from? If I live, it is from the truck, I live from the tractor-trailer, I live from the bus.”

UNITED, accuses the National Government to deceive them by requesting a formula for adjust the price of diesel fuelwhich it then ignored, imposing an increase that the union says will worsen the economy, increase inflation, make transportation more expensive and drive them into bankruptcy.

“What this government is doing is not for the well-being of the community, on the contrary, it is to overwhelm and bring the middle class to its knees,” Medrano emphasized.

The union maintains that It is not the right time for a hike of ACPM. The economy remains stagnant, with sectors such as industry, construction, trade and mining in crisiswhich is reflected in declines in production, sales and employmentIn addition, the sector faces 1,157 roadblocks, with losses exceeding 10 billion pesos.
