Transporter crashed into broken-down car in Waldviertel: 3 injured

The 26-year-old driver of a delivery truck had drifted into the oncoming lane due to a moment of sleep and crashed into a broken-down car, which was pushed against a passenger car. The 39-year-old driver, who was between the two vehicles, tried to save himself by jumping to the side, but was seriously injured. The two other drivers also suffered injuries, police and firefighters reported.

3 vehicles damaged

Due to a technical defect, a 43-year-old driver had stopped his vehicle along the B5, and the employee of a local specialist workshop who had been notified had parked his car in front of the car. All three vehicles involved had to be removed by emergency services or a towing company after the accident in the Waldviertel, the Waidhofen an der Thaya volunteer fire department reported in a press release.
