He Transmetro service is operating irregularly during the passage of the procession of the “Christ of Love” in it Historic Center of Guatemala.

Transmetro lines disabled in the Historic Center, March 2023

The procession of the “Christ of Love” began in the early morning of March 11 in the Santo Domingo Temple and will end at 9:00 p.m. The route passes through different religious temples in zone 1, so the passage of vehicles and Transmetro lines have had changes.

The Guatemalan Municipality alerted Guatemalans through their social networks regarding the detours implemented:

  • Line 7: the service operates from the Incienso Norte Avenida Elena Station to the Incienso Sur Station
  • Lines 6, 18, 12 and 13: in the morning these stations had changes, however, the Municipality announced that they are already operating normally.

Suspended line and disabled stations

As reported, the disabled stations are San Juan de Dios, Aycinena, Merced, Red Cross, Archive and Sanctuary.

In addition, the service of the line 1 It is suspended due to the carpets and the different activities carried out by the processional procession.

During the Holy Week and Lent season, the Historic Center of Guatemala becomes one of the busiest points for the Catholic faithful, who participate in the elaboration of carpets or accompany the processions.

For this reason, we recommend that you inform yourself in advance regarding alternative routes or changes in the public transport service if you travel through this sector of the city.
