The security camera footage that led to the arrest of 33-year-old transgender man Solomon Galligan was shown for the first time on Monday (29.05.2024) to the families of the children involved in the incident at Black Forest Hills Elementary School in Aurora, Colorado, last Friday. according to CBS Colorado.
“It was tough – it was really tough,” parent Dante White said when he saw the footage that alarmingly proved his child wasn’t exaggerating how scary it was.
“That’s something you fear as a parent.”
The footage shows a figure holding a blanket walking next to a fence while more than a dozen juvenile students play outside in the courtyard during recess.
The children then run away as the suspected kidnapper runs towards them, some shouting “Stranger Danger”
The footage then shows the adult approaching one of the children and manages to grab one of them but let go when he began to stumble, police said.
Finally the attacker ran away when a teacher started shouting at him.
Galligan – who identifies himself as male – was arrested and charged with attempted kidnapping. He had consumed alcohol and his face was covered with white powder.
Galligan was placed on the sex offenders register in 2011 after being convicted of a sexual assault but no further details of the incident were given.
That same year, Galligan took to social media to say he suffered from depression while receiving male hormones as part of his transition.
