Transforming Public Health in Guatemala: Inclusive Health Model and Navarrese Cooperation

The next WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 22 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. online in the Zoom access (Meeting ID: 950 4766 5611; Access code: 183670) and in person, in room 03 of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Public University of Navarra (UPNA), we will hold this conference with the participation of the speakers Juan Carlos Verdugo Urrejoladoctor specializing in public health policies and former vice minister of health of Guatemala, and Juana Milian Chew, community health nurse specialist. Both belong to Institute of Inclusive Health of Guatemalaan institution that will receive on November 21 the XX Navarra International Award for Solidarity.

Juan Carlos and Juana have been working in Guatemala for more than two decades on the transformation of its public health system and will share with the audience how this transformation is being carried out around a inclusive health model. They will also talk regarding the role that Navarrese cooperation has had and they hope it will have, both at the level of economic support and technical support through professionals in the socio-health field, in this transformation. And they will delve into how it is integrated and what role the traditional medicine within the Guatemalan health system.

After his speech, there will be a debate on What learnings can we exchange? to ensure quality, inclusive and comprehensive universal health care, which guarantees the human right to health for the entire population.
