The young Salvadoran Gerardo Morán took to Twitter to narrate his story with bitcoin (BTC), feeling proud of what he has achieved so far, since he is 18 years old and thinks that a better future is forged.
According to his account, Morán was one of the 5,000 students that the NGO Mi Primer Bitcoin formed in a month, as part of a tour that traveled through 23 municipalities in El Salvador during the first months of the year.
However, the first time Morán heard regarding Bitcoin was in the year 2021. “When I found out that a magical Internet money would be declared legal tender in El Salvador“, said.
Shortly following, he saw that a sector of the population was opposed to the measure promoted by President Nayib Bukele. He added that, at the time, many Salvadorans used negative words to refer to bitcoin.
“They talked regarding volatility, fraud and politics, but something told me that the decision to make bitcoin legal tender was the right one”, said the young man from the Concepción de Ataco municipality, located in western El Salvador.
Later, with his learning and the lessons received from My First Bitcoin, he discovered that people in his country are not afraid of cryptocurrency, but rather they are terrified of the unknown.
“Then I realized that education is all the people of El Salvador need”. Surely in this way they will change their perception of the first of the cryptocurrencies. as she commented on Twitter.

Falling down the rabbit hole
Gerardo Morán assures that he worked since he was 11 years old as a worker in the construction area or in activities related to tourism.
So, from very early on, he learned regarding one of the great ills that humanity suffers from, which is the fact that fiat money leads to incentive degradation. This is because it loses value as time goes by, forcing people to work more to meet their needs.
In fact, Morán came to reflect on this and makes it clear when he points out: “I have tried to reason why people in my country work so much for so little money. He experienced it firsthand because he received a salary of 6 dollars for working in the construction area.
Until one day he decided that this small allocation of resources was not enough for him. “So I resigned not knowing that there was an opportunity ahead for me,” he added.
He decided to jump down the rabbit hole, as they say. when a person decides to study and understand the principles that surround a Bitcoin.
That moment came for Morán thanks to Napoleón Osorio, instructor of My First Bitcoin. It happened when the NGO visited his school to give talks to students who wanted to learn regarding the first of the cryptocurrencies.
My First Bitcoin was founded in 2021 to train people in El Salvador on Bitcoin, although it is also reaching other countries, such as Mexico, Honduras and the United States.
Morán not only completed the diploma, but also applied in an outstanding way, which opened the doors for him, along with 60 other students, to qualify as a bitcoin instructor in the same organization in which he was educated.

Gerardo Morán: “My life changed with Bitcoin”
“We now proudly educate people in the western region of El Salvador. This job has given me opportunities I never thought possible. It allows me to work, continue my studies and meet people while passing on this knowledge to students not much younger than me”.

Morán is also educating a group of 8 senior teachers regarding Bitcoin at the Antonio J. Alfaro school in Concepción de Ataco, where he himself graduated as a bachelor.
“Now I run Bitcoin education in my hometown,” added the young Salvadoran, who now says he follows the advice of renowned bitcoiner Matt Odell: “stay humble and rack up sats.”
Now you know that bitcoin is scarce money, not controlled by the government, nor by any organization. And also, it is an asset that rises in price as time goes by, catapulting the incentives that are generated from work.
