From October 11 to 13, the First National Newcom Pink Tournament will be held in Puerto Rico, in categories over 40, over 50 and over 60. Organized by the Nazareno club and the Municipality, its purpose is to prevent breast cancer during ‘Pink Month.’
To date, 30 teams from Misiones, La Rioja, Santa Fe, Chaco, Entre Ríos and Corrientes have registered. The competition will be played on six parquet-floor courts at CEDEMU.
“The reality is that breast cancer is not a death sentence if detected in time. Lives are saved, and Misiones is an example of this type of public policy that seeks to bring health and treat it with first-class care at the Madariaga Hospital. The coordinated work they do is extremely intelligent, that citizens have an initiative, reaching out with prevention, which is the most important tool, and that it is promoted by the municipality and the provincial government is the fundamental tool, they are the ones who transform realities,” said Paula Franco, Strategic Coordinator of the Smart Government.
She also said that “At this time, what needs to be conveyed is that we need to explore, to detect, so that both women and men know their bodies, their breasts and can ask for timely care that is available to everyone free of charge.”
During the tournament, a prevention, information and all necessary information campaign on breast cancer will be carried out with the support of the Municipal Health Department. The entire community will also be invited to identify their spaces, businesses and shop windows with something alluding to the pink month.
On the other hand, the possibility has been opened for the entire community to record a video with a message on this topic that will be broadcast on a giant screen during the development of the matches.
This will not only be a sporting event, but it will combine health, prevention and tourism, since this means hotel, gastronomic and commercial occupancy.
